She’s graced our screens as Love/Hate’s Linda and Red Rock’s Bridget, but is Denise McCormack ready to take on her most challenging role yet?
Actress, Denise McCormack, rose to prominence for her role as Fran’s wife and Nidge’s bit on the side, Linda. The tragic role earned Denise an IFTA for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series in 2012. “The characters I play are strong well-rounded women, I’ve been very lucky.”
Since Love/Hate, Denise has taken on the part of antagonistic matriarch, Bridget Kiely in Red Rock.
On getting the offer for Dancing with the Stars, Denise says, “I leaped off the couch when I got the call, I surprised myself. I’m a massive fan of the show and have always said I’d love to do it.”
As well as onscreen acting, Denise has an extensive list of theatre credits. “I’ve done a lot of theatre work but haven’t had the opportunity to do it in years. So aside from the dancing, I’m looking forward to getting back out in front of a live audience. There’s no feeling like it!”
Mother-of-two young boys, Denise has also said she’s doing it for the other mammies out there. “Being a mum is the most rewarding thing in the world, but it’s important to do other things too. I’m representing the other mums out there.”
